Saat pembukaan Asian Games 2018, Via Vallen yang tampil menggunakan setelan berwarna putih tampil pertama kali membawakan theme song Asian Games 2018 'Meraih Bintang'. Akan tetapi, lip sync yang dilakukan oleh Via Vallen terlihat jelas dan mengundang protes.

Belum berhenti di situ, dia juga memprotes gerakan Via Vallen yang dianggap tidak luwes. Dia melihat Via seperti berada di panggung biasa dan bukan Via yang menjadi bintangnya dalam pembukaan Asian Games 2018 di Gelora BUng Karno.

Mendapat kritikan, Via Vallen pun langsung angkat bicara. Dia membalas komentar akun tersebut dan menjelaskan mengapa dirinya lip sync.

"mohon ma'af yang sebesar besarnya jika mba' nya kecewa karena sy lip sync. Sebenarnya saya PRIBADI juga kecewa waktu di kasih tau harus lip sync karena saya PRIBADI memang nggak pernah PD jika harus bernyanyi lip sync ketika GR pun sy berusaha untuk minta nyanyi secara live tapi dari pihak panitia melarang dengan alasan yang SANGAT MASUK AKAL," begitu jawaban Via Vallen.

"pertunjukan ini mempertaruhkan nama NEGARA kita, jika ada kesalahan teknis sedikit saja yang malu bukan hanya saya tapi negara kan ??? Mereka bilang secara teknis sangat tidak memungkinkan untuk pengisi acara perform LIVE, jd menurut saya ketidak pedean saya harus bernyanyi lip sync tidak lah lebih penting di banding menjaga segala kemungkinan terburuk agar tidak ada kesalahan teknis sedikit pun demi kesuksesan acara smlaem alhamdulillah acara td malam mendapatkan banyak apresiasi se ASIA takjub melihat INDONESIA lewat suguhan acara tadi malam yang di kerjakan oleh putra putri bangsa," tegasnya.(detik.com)
